I have always loved stickers. I remember my kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Kerr, putting those foil gold, red, silver and blue star stickers on our papers and on our hands at the end of the day. My piano teacher, Marina, would use those and similar stickers on when I would complete a song. When I was in fifth grade I even had a sticker collection book. I would trade puffy stickers with my friends. The fuzzy stickers were the best! In high school, my English teacher (sophomore year) would put stickers on our “A” papers. Although I loved English class and didn’t have any trouble with the work, I still would get happy when I would get a sticker. And she had the coolest stickers, too!
I also really like my personal avatar. I sometimes spend time playing around with new looks for my Bitmoji, changing the hairstyles and outfits. I love finding the perfect Memoji to match the expression on my face or my body language when I’m sending messages.
Fast forward to becoming an educator. What do you think one of favorite teacher supplies was/is? You guessed it: STICKERS (and Flair pens, of course). But a couple of years ago I learned that I could upload my avatar into my design software and create my own “Mrs. Garcia” stickers. I made several different versions of my avatar and my stickers were a hit with my students. They were so much fun and simple enough to make that my own daughters, then 6 and 8 years old, designed and cut their own avatar stickers too.
Here is my quick Jumprope tutorial for creating your very own personal avatar stickers. Now go make something cute!
